This scene would've fixed all the negative feelings for the series finale. Ted was happy with Tracy and wasn't even thinking of Robin in that way. Never should've deleted it.

Why they delete this scene is explained how robin and Ted still have fillings on each other

the fact that these were cut is criminal. they would’ve changed the finale’s reaction in such a major way. *major way*

I understand why they had to cut those scenes out. But I wished they would have them included in the DVD version of S9 :(

I watched the table read for this final episode and it includes all of these scenes. It’s helped me process the ending and cure the hangover of sorts after the finale. Plus watching blooper reels, highly recommend both.

While chasing after robin it seemed like anyone else he would’ve gotten with would have just been settling while he waiting for her. Until he met Tracy. Then it was clear he did settle. But in this case it was Robin he settled for because he lost the real love of his life

I'm late to this show (found it online streaming) so wasn't invested when it all went down. My opinion- the ending was fine- very real life- simply could have been executed better, and probably should have, given the writers knew the ending was Ted/Robin from Season 2 on. I think people are mainly upset because Cristin Milioti knocked Tracy out of the park and even though in show life it was six years after she died, she felt kicked to the curb by the ending.

damn it all these deleted scenes i guess i can never have what they had and from they mean the whole group not just ted and robin, i sometimes think that time is passing by so quickly its only gonna increase and i am afraid that my late 20s will feel the same as 1 season of this episode, i had so much time in a day when i was kid now i only have worries

I just finished watching the whole show for the first time . I can write 30+ instances where Ted would have met Tracy in whole series and director would played them in last 5 episodes of this show. But there are only 4 . That was Poor writer’s instincts. Did they changed the writers in the middle of the running show ? They would have pulled a great ending to this show . What a brilliant concept goes into vain.

Broooo We should've just gotten an extended episode. Now I know what Josh Radnor was talking about when he said that this would've solved the issues people had with the ending. (well there are still gonna be people that hate it, but i feel the deleted scene makes it more easier to digest)

And on top of it all, the ending especially with this scene, just feels like they were each other’s fall back plan. There was never any connection between these two.

I think scenes like these is what the show needed for that ending

They spent a whole SEASON on three days of a weekend wedding, but they couldn’t take the time to tell the story that they completely RUSHED in the finale episode? What a bunch of clowns. They made one of the best shows ever made, and completely fumbled and face-planted at the 1-yard line. And that’s not even the worst of it, because they actually HAD and alternate ending ready to go, where Tracy doesn’t die and Ted doesn’t get back with Robin. But they were so stubborn and so stupid they ruined their careers by staying with their original ending, and now they will likely never have a successful show again. 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

That conversation with Robin makes the official ending better, I think that if they explained better why Robin and Barney didn't work out, what happened to Tracy, and we got to see more of Ted and Tracy's story, the ending wouldn't have been that awful.

It's mind blowing how they took the WORST possible ending to this show and used it.

they should just delete the entire finale altogether. Actually, they should just delete the entire final season since it sucked big time with all the nonsense plot lines and the crazy 1 episode per hour schtick.

I honestly prefer the straight Ted/Tracy ending with Ted shutting Robin down. Robin only wants what she can't have, she's never happy. She should have either wound up with Barney and his daughter was from a prior one night stand, or she should have ended up alone. In the ending where she ends up with Ted, there's no doubt in my mind she ends up hurting him again.

With all the info they cut, they should have made the finale 2 parts
